The Nigerian Snake Repellant Recipes and Tips

Snakes are dangerous animals to have around. It is especially dangerous when you have children or poultry animals around. There are both venomous and nonvenomous snakes. The venom of a snake is severe, while non-venomous snakes can also bite.

Venomous or not, Snakes in an environment can render a farmer’s work to waste. What could attract snakes includes Bushy environments, high population of rodents, certain plants and trees, poultry animals etc.

The best way is to repel them naturally as many sold repellants have low effects. Below are effective snake repellants that would cost you less, albeit very effective.

     1. Lemongrass

The Lemongrass is an amazing plant to grow in your compound. Not just it’s health benefits, easy to grow, great scent and beauty, but also that it scares off mosquitos, repels snakes and also ticks.

The smell of the lemongrass that seem nice to us is however too poignant for snakes and scares them off.

To scare away snakes, it is advised to grow lemongrass around the house or especially places you suspect as loopholes, where they might pass through. They are also especially relevant for mosquitoes and thick

     2. Marigold

Like Lemongrass or maybe even better, Marigold have a strong odor that is powerful enough to deter many pests from getting near including snakes.

The Marigold might even be a better fit to use a stone to kill two birds. Its beautiful flowers look good on the environment and can easily deceive people, preventing them from knowing the reason it’s been planted.

The roots grow deep and aggressively, which give off a strong odor that repels many garden pests and critters.

The downside however, is that the roots of marigold can make a good hiding place for a snake’s prey.

     3. Mother-in-Law’s Tongue

Also known as snake plant and for obvious reasons. The shape of this plant might seem striking to you, but they frighten snakes because their sharp leave can be abrasive or even crush them.

It is a beautiful plant to have around as it can be easily maintained.

Another advantage of this mysterious plant is that it is effective in producing more oxygen than the normal oxygen production of plants. Snake plants are also known for their ability to help remove toxic air pollutants. Though in small contributions, snake plants can absorb cancer-causing pollutants, including CO2, benzene, formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene.

     4. Garlic and Onions

Garlics is an important snake repellant. Not just the clove, but also the plant.

The smell from the garlic repels and confuses and disorient them. The smell will make them move to another direction. The garlic also has a bad effect on the skin and they will always attempt to avoid the sight of it.

 

Garlic is better used with onions for fast and effective effect. They both have sulfenic acid in them. This property in onion is what makes one shed tear when chopping it.

Planting onions in your garden will be a great choice when you want to avoid snakes. It works about as well as garlic plants and it’s not hard to take care of onions in your garden.

You can also use a DIY process for quick effect.

Onions have sulfuric acid that make our eyes tears. Mash or pound the onions and garlic. Do not blend because blending might require that you add at least a little water, water will dilute which we do not want. Then sprinkle it on the four-corners of your compound. Apply this often. Snakes would avoid your compound at all costs.

Other notable solutions

Bitter kola and Maize

You get Bitter kola and maize, you grind them and sprinkle it on the area you suspect snakes might move or pass. This will scare them off.

 

White vinegar

Snakes hate the smell of white vinegar. Sprinkle it on all corners of your compound. Repeat this process often for better effect.

Lime and Peppermint oil

Get your lime, juice it, mix it with peppermint oil then sprinkle it around any body of water like swimming pool.

Conclusion

These are valid recommended natural snakes repellant. if you’re serious about getting rid of snakes form your compound as soon as possible, ensure you make use of a t least on of these solutions.
